HAI's
Summer Program provides opportunities for people with disabilities
and frail elderly individuals to attend performances in the parks
of NYC's five boroughs. For performances of the New York Philharmonic,
the Summer Program reserves space near the stage and arranges for
wheelchair-accessible bathrooms so that people with disabilities
and the frail elderly can enjoy concerts in safety and comfort.
For
performances of the New York Shakespeare Festival, the Delacorte
Theater in Central Park provides a block of tickets with up to six
wheelchair locations, so that people whose disabilities make them
unable to stand in long lines for tickets can enjoy classic performances.
Summer Program highlights
from past years have included Garth Brook's and Pavarotti's concerts
in Central Park, the much-acclaimed 40th anniversary production
of Hair, and performances at Summerstage.
